I love animals. Each time I meet a furry friend I enjoy seeing their personality come to life. I grew up with rescue dogs and cats so I have learned to have patience for each pet, and I cherish each moment that I can interact with them, no matter their size or shape!

Paws On A Journey offers Dog Walking and Dog Training that provides emotional balance and good health for your pets such as: decreased hyperactivity, better moods, weight loss, stronger muscles, less stress, socialization, and improved obedience.
We can even help with those troublesome behaviours like dog-aggression, people-aggression, on-leash reactivity, barking or whining, food guarding, having difficulty getting them into the vehicle or kennel & more!
Consultations are only $5 and are applied to your first service! This is a great way to help you decide if we are a good fit for your pet!

About Our Training Program
Paws on a Journey has partnered with a certified professional dog trainer who oversees all of our training programs, evaluates every dog individually, and mentors our team through the process. Our team is actively completing professional certification under his direct guidance, meaning every training session your dog receives is backed by certified expertise from the ground up.We don't believe in cookie cutter training. Every dog is different — from low drive family pets to high energy working breeds like Malinois, cattle dogs, and shepherds. We train the dog in front of us.
Our Training Philosophy
We believe in personalized training that recognizes the unique temperament of each dog and handler team. Our methods are built on motivation — developing confidence, trust, and willing participation through humane, consistent, and emotionally intelligent training. We view every dog as an individual student to be taught with methods appropriate to their unique talents and drives.We also recognize that training is a serious pursuit. Behavioural challenges require real solutions, and we hold our dogs accountable in a fair and structured way — because that's what it means to be an ethical steward of the animals we love.
Our 3 Phase Training
SystemPhase 1 — Learning
We start with a mostly motivational approach to build a clear understanding of expectations. We never correct behaviour the dog doesn't yet understand. This phase builds a confident, comfortable foundation and sets the dog up for success.
Phase 2 — Fluency
Once the dog understands the behaviour we begin refining it. Adding limitations, increasing precision, and building reliability. Do this, not that — with clear and fair guidance throughout.
Phase 3 — Generalization & Proofing
The final phase adds new environments, distractions, and real world elements. When a dog truly understands a behaviour at this level it carries it deeper and longer throughout their life.
Our Training Methods
We incorporate all four quadrants of operant conditioning as well as classical conditioning. Our programs draw on proven principles including free shaping, the Premack principle, and back chaining. Corrections are always light, fair, and used as guidance — never introduced before understanding is firmly established.
Breeds & Experience
Our trainer has worked with a wide range of breeds and temperaments — from low drive pets with minimal food motivation to highly driven working breeds including Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and cattle dogs. Whether your dog is soft and sensitive or stubborn and independent, we know how to meet them where they are.
Training ServicesPrivate Sessions
One on one dedicated training in a controlled environment. Ideal for foundational to advanced obedience, behaviour modification, and any dog that needs focused individual attention.
3 Sessions (45 min each) — $290
5 Sessions (45 min each) —$500
7 Sessions (45 min each) — $525
10 Sessions (45 min each) — $700
Walk & Train ~ 30-Minutes
Certified training built into every walk. Real world obedience work in the environments where it actually matters. Ideal for leash manners, recall, sit, down, stay, load up, or training advanced obedience under distractions 30 Min Walk & Train — $80
Board & Train
Your dog stays with us for 7-28 days at at time and gets trained multiple times every single day! The most immersive and effective option for deep behavioural change and long lasting training results.Any skill taught during Board and Train is better trained. $175 per night, add a second dog to train for just $95 per night!
Which Service Is Right For My Dog?
Walk & Train 30-Min — You want your dog to get some exercise while also working on Basic training skills. The walking time and training time are shared in the 30min slot.
Private Sessions 45-Min each — You want to prioritize training and teach your puppy or dog anything from basic to advanced off-leash obdience or fix problem behaviours.
Board & Train — Ideal for the fastest and most thorough training results possible! Any skill learned during board and train is always better, stronger, and the training lasts longer. Board and Trains are perfect for behaviour modification too.

We had the privilege to know Vanessi when we were looking for someone to take care of our lovely dog named Boss for 3 weeks . Vanessi did a fantastic job with our baby by giving him constant attention and affection. When it was time for Boss to come home we think that he preferred to stay with Vanessi. We couldn't be happier with Vanessi's service and we highly recommend her!
Vanessi is amazing with our dog Maple. Always comes home tired and happy. She provided walks and dog park adventures and sent us pics each day. We love having piece of mind that he is in a family home and gets lots of love, affection & one on one attention. Last time Maple needed a little extra care due a surgery and Vanessi did a great job giving him all the medication. Would highly recommend.
Vanessi was an amazing dog sitter for our 1 year old Akita Koda. She picked him up from the house, and Koda was so excited to see them. We can only imagine the day they had, Koda came back exhausted after the adventures she had taken him on. She is our go to dog sitters!
